"Two"
Sunday, 17 of June 2001:
The kittens are on the way. Here two of them has been born.

The mother, Mimmi, is only one year old herself.
age: 0 and 10 minutes

"#4"
Here's the fourth.
age: 0 to 1 hour 10 minutes
"Four"
They were born two at a time, and then a long pause.
So the first one was born 14:30, next one 14:40, then 15:30, 15:40 and 16:30.
"Four 2"
They quickly seek out the food source.
"Protector"
She was counting them too, I think.
"Clean"
Lots of cleaning to do.
"Four 3"
We did speculate a lot about the colour.
Time here is around 16:00, when the four of them were clean and the fifth weren't born yet.
"Small"
They are so small. We speculated a lot about the colour.
"Five"
Here the fifth of them has showed up.
"Curious dog"
Here Isak the dog checks out what all the commotion is about.
"Bigger 1/9"
I compiled a sequence to show how they grows.
"Bigger 2/9"
They grew...
"Bigger 3/9"
...and grew... Check the colour change...
"Bigger 4/9"
...and ate and grew...
"Bigger 5/9"
...
"Bigger 6/9"
Now the colour is starting to show for real.
Look how striped they seem to be.
age: 30 days (4 weeks)
"Bigger 7/9"
Now they are turning dark too.
age: 37 days (5 weeks)
"Bigger 8/9"
...and grew... And the stripes are turning black too.
age: 53 days (7 weeks)
"Bigger 9/9"
...and grew and left home... Two cats left here.
age: 77 days (11 weeks)
"Cozy"
Isn't that cozy? There are five of them in there, but you'll have to look hard.
"Cozy 2"
Close up. They seem to enjoy themself in that catlike way already.
"Cozy 3"
Yawn.
"Cozy 4"
Time passes. This is a little later, and the colour is starting to make sense.
"Grass adventure"
The first tour outdoors. Grass is so... odd.
"Grass adventure 2"
But they did eventually walk out on that odd surface.
"Grass adventure 3"
It's strange but fun.
"Grass adventure 4"
Doing like the big cats do.
"Grass adventure 5"
What a savannah!
"Grass adventure 6"
Now they start to get comfortable in the grass. Lets play!
"Grass adventure 7"
...and hunt!
"Big cats eat real food"
They don't get all their food from the mum.
"Climbing the Fence"
Here's Ruben climbing the fence to my room. (Count the toes.)
"Cute Simon"
Here's Simon, probably thinking big thoughts, maybe about that guy with the camera...
"Cute Simon 2"
Simon peeking out between the furniture outdoors. He didn't enjoy the grass as much as the hideouts.
"Dinner"
Dinnertime.
"Dog Water"
This is the dogs water bowl. Fascinating, I think he thinks.
age: 37 days (5 weeks)
"Exploring the Window"
It was just a matter of time until they could climb up to my window. Here's the first two of them (Simon and Randi, I think).
age: 51 days (7 weeks)
"Exploring the Window II"
Randi, Uno and Truls.
"Gnaw"
Truls checking out if those power coords are fun.
"Oops, bad move"
That was a tricky path. Whoops!
Fraction of a second later, Simon fell down.
age: 50 days (7 weeks)
"Oops, bad move II"
Randi repeated exactly the same trick a few seconds later.
age: 50 days (7 weeks)
"Laundry Basket"
If one finds somewhere cozy, the other follows.
age: 51 days (7 weeks)
"Randi"
Randi, the only girl. She came to be called Aaliyah later, and then simplified to Alice.
age: 70 days (10 weeks)
"Randi 2"
Typical kitten. Still Randi.
"Randi in a Box"
Here's Randi halfway out of a box we made a hole in.
"Randi the Writer"
Here's Randi with a pencil. Maybe she'll write when she grows up?
age: 51 days (7 weeks)
"Ruben 1/2"
Ruben. Check the number of toes.
"Ruben 2/2"
And lick your nose.
"Mimmi play"
Mimmi the mother seems to teach them how to wrestle.
"Simon and Unna"
Simon and Unna the dog checking each other out.
"Unna and Simon"
Later, Simon learned not to purr when he was near Unna,
because the sound disturbed her and she would leave.
"Truls"
Truls. He were the king of the bunch, almost twice as big, at all time.
"Monitor Box"
My monitor broke, and I had to get a new one.
Of course, there's nothing more fun for kittens then a new box.
The cats still enjoy new boxes. Randi and Ruben and Simon, the only cats we had left at this time.

Even big cats enjoy new boxes.
"Uno 1"
I made a series to compare them from newborn to youth.
Here's Uno.
"Uno 2"
Uno as grownup. Quite a change.
age: 59 days (8½ week)
"Truls 1"
Truls. Notice that he's already bigger, even though he's newborn.
"Truls 2"
He has a certain air around him, doesn't he?
"Randi 1"
Randi, the girl.
"Randi 2"
Randi, the big hunter.
"Simon 1"
Simon, the kitten we kept. No white on the nose.
"Simon 2"
He and Randi were the smallest, but probably the most intelligent.
"Ruben 1"
Ruben, the one with five toes on each rear paw.
They don't normally have that and we were a little concerned, but he didn't have any problem with it.
"Ruben 2"
Ruben. This is the last photo in the kitten series.
(Actually, I took around 1,500, but these are the good ones. And not as many repeats.
The trick of photographing kittens and puppets is to take many pictures.)
